Break Point

Break Point

June 2018

We all desire control. We desire strength and not weakness. We desire success and not failure. We desire our lives to be our own. However, we are not our own, we are not in control, and we daily battle our weaknesses. We must rely on the one who is stronger and is in control. We must be broken, so that He can be seen as perfect. This happens when we come to the break point.

Father's Day message from Pastor Luke Aadalen with guest interviews on June 17, 2018 at Community Church of Waterford, Goshen, Indiana. Micah 6:8 “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” The Fatherhood Five: 1. A Father’s Courage Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." 2. A Father’s Compassion Psalm 103:13 “As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him.” 3. A Father’s Wisdom Proverbs 4:11-13 “I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble. Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.” 4. A Father’s Father 1 John 3:1 “What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it--we're called children of God! That's who we really are.” 5. A Father’s Love 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” Today, we celebrate. We remember the courage, compassion, wisdom and love of the men who have guided and continue to guide our lives,a nd we take that example with us – men – to lead in those same ways and to be the product of a God who desires great things for his children. We celebrate that we, as men, have been chosen to be that tool and to fill that role – and to do so far beyond the basic definition of fatherhood.

Break Point week one message from Pastor Luke Aadalen on June 3, 2018 at Community Church of Waterford, Goshen, Indiana. Psalm 51 Psalms Prayer Pattern • Plea and/or requests (vs. 1-2) • Brutal Honesty (vs. 3-6) • Plea and/or requests (vs. 7-9) • Seeking Direction (vs. 10-14) • Praise and Honor (vs. 15-19) David recognizes his lack of control. He recognizes his need and acknowledges his weakness shows the strength of God. Not only that, he cries out for it. David knows something that we need to discover. And that is this: Brokenness is not a sign of weakness, but an avenue of strength Just like David, we just need to accept the redemptive promises that God gives to us when we accept our break point. You don’t have limited resources Matthew 28:18-20 God provides you wisdom through His word Proverbs 2:6 Matthew 7:24 James 1:5 God NEVER ignores your cries for help 1 Peter 5:6-7 Matthew 11:28-30 Weakness is not a curse – it is a blessing 2 Corinthians 12:9 “I need to be broken, so God can be seen as perfect.”
