HopeFULL week five message from Pastor Chris Russell on December 30, 2018 at Community Church of Waterford, Goshen, Indiana. Every day brings challenges and decisions that need to be made and we have to live with the consequences of those decisions, whether they are good or bad ones, whether they were made by us or whether they were made by others. And sometimes we need a refill on our hope meter. The Christmas season is a perfect time of the year to do just that because the Christmas season reminds us of one of the most vivid displays of bringing hope into the world by God in the history of humanity. Jesus’ very arrival was a great sign of hope for the people of His day and for all of us ever since. It redefined hope from being something that we simply WISH for to understanding it as something we can actually HAVE. Hebrews 6:19 So let’s turn our attention from these symptoms of hopeLESSness to those things that are the source of hopeFULLness. Sources of hopeFULLness 1. God’s presence Psalm 62:5 Isaiah 40:31 2. God’s promise Psalm 119:105 3. God’s process Romans 5:2b-4 Romans 8:28 (NIV) 4. God’s purpose Jeremiah 29:11 So here’s my question for you.....if you are lacking hope right now in your life, which of these four sources are you neglecting, and there’s a good chance there’s probably more than one that you are neglecting. If there is one thing we have learned through this journey our family has been on it is that our God is a God of hope. He is a God that can take the darkest moments and flood them with light. He is a God who can take the most broken of situations and turn them in to something beautiful. He is a God who can take us from a place of HopeLESSness to a place of HopeFULLness.
