Born to Party week three message from Pastor Chris Russell on February 4, 2018 at Community Church of Waterford, Goshen, Indiana. In this series we have learned that from the beginning of humanity, God intended for His people to be known as a people who celebrated on a regular basis… to be known as a people who took intentional time out of their schedules to take the focus off of themselves and instead focus in on the bigger picture that God had for their lives… to be a group of committed followers who would reflect on the goodness and faithfulness of God in their lives so that they would not get too overwhelmed or fearful of the daunting and sometimes downright scary circumstances that surrounded them in their daily lives. We are being what the church is supposed to be… a group of people that, even in the midst of challenges and heartbreak in this world, can come together and find strength in one another and in the Lord. That's what we've been talking about in this series…. we can celebrate because of who God is, because of what God has done, and because of what God will continue to do in our lives when we seek after Him. New people should be able to come through our doors and see that regardless of what the circumstances are that are going on around us in our lives, that we are never defeated. We're not anxious, overwhelmed, pessimistic or negative, because we know who our God is, we know where our hope lies, we know the source of our strength, we know the depth of His love, we know the power of his mercy, we know the grace of his forgiveness, and we know the true source of our joy. And because we know all of these things we can celebrate as we were created to celebrate. Psalm 46:1-3 Luke 15:1-2 Now let's get in to the 3 stories. You'll notice a rhythm to the 3 stories as each one talks about something being lost, something being found, and a celebration for what is found STORY #1 Luke 15:4-7 STORY #2 Luke 15:8-10 STORY #3 Luke 15:11-32 The story isn't finished yet. It will be determined in the upcoming days, weeks, months and years. What will the party look like, who will be at the celebration. How the story ends? We'll have to wait and see.
